Today in writing we worked with covering letters and its format.

I am writing in response to the post you advertised in the Guardian newspaper for a junior research assistant at the Centre for Policy Studies. Please find enclosed my CV and references, which details my recent work experience.

The job attracted me because I am seeking a new challenge in this field. I know that you do a lot of good work in advising the government about what policies will work and what won't. I've just done my degree in politics and I really want to carry on working in this area and get better at this kind of research.

• Experience of doing independent research

Pienso, luego consumo

En ADS estuvimos trabajando con el medio ambiente y los recursos que este este nos provee. A partir de un video que vimos tuvimos que hacer un mapa conceptual de como ser consumidores responsables.

Evolución de los sentidos

En la clase de biología leímos un capítulo sobre los sentidos del libro "Modelo para armar". A partir de la lectura tuvimos que buscar imágenes sobre los cinco sentidos y hacer un resumen en base a cada uno de ellos.

Visión

Apareció en los seres vivos 800 millones de años atrás. Los seres vivos acuáticos desarrollaron un cáliz cubierto por células útiles para percibir la dirección por la que proviene una fuente de luz y los movimientos.

Los ojos evolucionaron hasta convertirse en lo que son hoy en día. Aparecieron las fosas orbitarias y los agujeros en el cráneo. Hace 210 a 240 millones de años los ojos evolucionaron en los mamíferos para enfocar distinto. 

Apareció la vision binocular. A su vez evolucionó la esclerótica para permitirnos saber hacia donde mira una persona.

Audición

Permitió la comunicación oral, fundamental para el ser humano. El oído de las personas está en equilibrio para poder percibir con claridad las ondas sonoras. Los huesos que eran parte de algunos mamíferos en el antepasado, evolucionaron y formaron el conducto auditivo y las orejas.

Gusto

Es un compuesto de dos sentidos químicos, el gusto y el olfato. Se cree que este sentido se desarrollo para identificar los alimentos saludables de los peligrosos. Los distintos sabores son el dulce, salado, amargo y ácido. 

Olfato

La nariz se desarrolló cuando los primeros vertebrados salieron del agua a la tierra. Cuando el homo erectus comenzó a desarrollarse, la nariz se despegó de la cara para poder recibir una mayor cantidad de aire. El olfato es un sentido sintético.

Introduction

The principal purpose of this report is t provide a discussion on how young people where I live feel about older people in the community and the prospect of growing old themselves.

Current Situation

Nowadays many teenagers seem to be disrespectful on older people in some aspects. Nevertheless, I conducted interviews with local teenagers and I made a survey on how they think about old people and growing old themselves. Most of those responding to the survey stated that young people admire their old figures as their grandparents and they see them as an example to follow. On the other hand, most of them are extremely afraid of growing old, assuming responsibilities and not being able to have their same way of life as they used to have.

Factors to improve some attitudes

Most of teens are worried about what to do in the future, which career to choose at university and how are they going to manage their lives. In addition, many of them are not living the present and are worried about a job. Consequently, they do not live the moment.

Recommendation

Clearly, there are many ways to change some attitudes against growing old. Nevertheless, I would make the following recommendation:

• You only live once, live the present and enjoy every moment.
• Work hard to achieve your projects but do not get frustrated if they are difficult, keep trying.

This last will help young people to follow their dreams and never forget what they want.

Amo de casapp

En el área de Política y ciudadanía junto a TICX, estuvimos trabajando con la planificación de una aplicación basándonos en una problemática de nuestro país. Tuvimos que imaginar el diseño, pensar en su interfaz y los objetivos de la misma. Finalmente presentamos nuestra propuesta a la clase.

¿Es o no es evolución?

En el área de biología estuvimos trabajando con el tema evolución. A partir de lo que aprendimos, tuvimos que buscar un comercial que hable de evolución y analizar si el término está utilizado correctamente o no.

En la publicidad dice que el Jabón evolucionó, esto no es correcto porque lo que evoluciona no es el jabón, sino las bacterias por selección natural porque al usar continuamente este jabón, hay algunas que mueren y las que son resistentes naturalmente se reproducen y las que no, desaparecen totalmente. Pero esto no tiene que ver con que el jabón haya evolucionado porque no es posible, sino que la población de bacterias evolucionó por medio de la selección natural a lo largo de las generaciones.

Giving an oral presentation may be a problem

In the subject of writing we learned how to write a proposal. We had to write one about the problems that students have at the time of giving an oral presentation and make recommendation to improve them.

INTRODUCTION

The principal aim of this proposal is to talk about the problems that students have at the time of giving an oral presentation in front of their partners. The final section provides some recommendations for students to follow.

CURRENT SITUATION

Many students suggest that giving an oral presentation as part of their final exam is tense and uncomfortable. Following a survey among families and young children, the results showed that most of them prefer a written exam to an oral one.

MAIN FACTORS AMONG THE DIFFICULTIES

As regards the problems that students face at the time of giving an oral presentation, there are many factors that they take into consideration. Remembering the information is such a great problem as they remember it mainly by heart without understanding the topic. Taking the speech into consideration, they often get stuck or they stammer, creating a horrible situation in all of them. Having in mind organization of the speech and distribution of the topaz among the grip is also a great problem.

RECCOMENDATIONS

There are many ways to solve those problems. I will make the following recommendations.

• Understand and know the topic in order to explain it easier and clearer.
• Recording yourself will help you no to stammer or getting stuck.
• Having notes with key words is extremely useful to remember the content.
• Do not look at people while talking

This final recommendation will help the ones who are shy or tend to turn nervous. Looking at an imaginary dot in the wall is a great idea.
